With the cost of buying a tried horses online ever increasing, we’ve been fortunate to secure a horse out of New Zealand privately, 5yo gelding SALONIUS (11:2-2-2), for a fraction of what he would have cost if buying him online.

Salonius will be trained by Mitch Beer, at Kembla Grange.

Salonius has raced 11 times, for 2 wins, and 4 placings all on the North Island of New Zealand around the Auckland region. He has been racing at tracks we would consider “provincial”. He is a strong, on-pace, front runner, who handles all track conditions with a great racing pattern for Australian racing.

Salonius last raced at Matamata, March 13 in BM65 finishing 2^nd over 1200m carrying 59.5kg. He is race fit, up and going, and will be ready to head straight to the races once he settles in at Kembla Grange.

Salonis arrives a class 2 horse with a low benchmark and will be very easy to place on country circuit to start with but with scope to make it provincials and ultimately, we’ve identified him as a horse than can progress to the midway system with a race every Saturday in Sydney worth $120,000.

Mitch Beer has had a terrific first half of the season since moving to Kembla Grange with 22 winners so far this season, and Patriot Bloodstock have built up a formidable partnership with Beer particularly with our tried horses over the last few seasons.

Our last purchase out of New Zealand together with Mitch was Well In Sight {Shalaa} who won 4 of her first 7 starts and contested the $1 million Inglis Sprint at Flemington. Mitch also purchased Swagger {Postponed} out of New Zealand as a class 1 horse. Swagger went on to win 6 races in Australia including a TAB Highway and over $150,000 in prizemoney.

Salonius is sound of wind and limb, and comes with a full vet certificate.

7.5% $2,250
10% $3,000

Costs include purchase costs, freight from New Zealand, GST, product disclosure statement, vet fees, agents’ fees, registration & transfers, transport, pre-training, agistment and all costs until May 1.

Ongoing training fees per month are as follows. 
2.5% $110 + GST
5% $220 + GST 
7.5% $330 + GST 
10% $440 + GST 

Our fees are fixed each and every month with no extras except any unexpected vet fees, surgeries, feature race nominations, or anything out of the ordinary etc.
