Wilbury

We're thrilled to offer our latest tried horse purchase 3yo gelding, WILBURY {Capitalist} 5:0-2-0 $20,055, a half-brother to champion 3yo and 2 x Group-1 winner, HOME AFFAIRS {I Am Invincible} 10:4-1-1 $2,273,200. 

Wilbury was originally purchased at the 2021 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale for $1,050,000 by a stallion syndicate. He raced 5 times in Victoria and as he wasn’t considered a potential stallion prospect, he was offered for sale where we picked him up on Inglis Digital.

Wilbury made his debut in the Group-3 $200,00 Maribyrnong Plate, he started in the market and finished 10^th beaten 4.95L. He was then spelled before returning with a very good 2^nd at Moonee Valley in February 2022 behind SUPERSET {Super One} which has since been competitive at stakes level. Wilbury then led them up at Ballarat in a 2yo race in March 2022 before finishing 5^th beaten 4.05L.

In his latest preparation, Wilbury has performed very well on the Victorian provincial circuit with outstanding form references. He resumed with an unlucky 4^th at Packenham beaten 1.95L behind C'EST MAGIQUE {Zoustar}. There have been 10 subsequent winners come out of that race, while the winner C’est Magique went on to finish 2^nd in the Listed $176,000 Cap D’Antibes, and 2^nd in the Group-1 $2,000,000 Coolmore Stud Stakes for 3yo’s, the premier sprint for 3yo’s in the country. This form is so strong when you consider our horse will be trained in the country. 

Wilbury then ran 2^nd beaten 2.5L at Yarra Valley, January 28, 2023. There have been four subsequent winners from this race including the winner, THE JAVELIN {Unencumbered} which has since won again twice at Yarra Valley. The race was run in fast time, the last 600m was 34.16 the second fastest last 600m of the meeting and comparable to the benchmark race over the same distance on the same day. These are outstanding form references and a key piece of the puzzle when sourcing tried horses.

Wilbury is still BOBS eligible until July 31, 2023.

Wilbury has recently been spelling, he will come straight into work with Mitch Beer and should be ready to race late June, early July. 

Shares start at $2,250 for 5% which covers purchase costs, GST, transport, PDS, transfers and registrations, vet fees, agistment, pre training, and all associated costs until May 1.

Ongoing fees are $200 + GST per 5% each month. Our fees are fixed each and every month with no extras except any unexpected vet fees, surgeries, feature race nominations, or anything out of the ordinary etc.
