Written Tycoon x Miss Promiscuity
We’re thrilled to offer our latest tried horse, 4yo unraced gelding Leopardi {Written Tycoon}, from stakes-winning mare Miss Promiscuity {Magnus}. Leopardi was her first foal offered and brought $400,000 at the 2020 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, we secured the horse for a fraction of his original purchase price at just $14,000 on the December Inglis Digital online sale.
Trained by Peter Moody at the time of purchase, Leopardi has done all his education, pre-training and had 3 x jump-outs in Melbourne.
He was sold due to his ownership group believing he wasn’t up to metropolitan class in Melbourne, however, based off his jump-outs we’re confident he’s a great buy to be better placed in the country.
Leopardi won his first jump-out at Pakenham in June 2021 beating subsequent Melbourne metropolitan class horse, Red Hot Nicc 14:2-6-1 $147,000 {Nicconi}, 4th in that jump-out was Hollywood Park (NZ) 8:2-0-4 $57,000 {American Pharaoh (USA)}, and 5th was Pounding 21:5-5-2 $300,000 {Exceed And Excel}, a winner again at Flemington, December 17. These are terrific form lines.
Leopardi - Pakenham jump-out, June 24 2021. Green jacket, 1st.
Leopardi was then spelled and gelded during that break, before returning to the jump-outs again at Pakenham, November 2, 2022.
On this occasion he finished a close 2nd to River Noire 1:1-0-0 $14,850 {Winning Rupert} which won at Moe on debut, November 18 by 4.5L, 3rd in the jump-out was Ivanov 2:0-0-1 $2,835 {Toronado} which subsequently finished 3rd beaten 0.2L at Moe, November 26, and 5th was Bel Thronum 3:1-0-1 $18,750 {Thronum} which won at Mornington, December 13.
Leopardi - Pakenham jump-out, November 2 2022. Purple jacket, 2nd.
His latest jump-out was at Pakenham, November 15 where he led and was run over late to finish 4th. The time, 45.50 seconds was the fastest of the 4 x 750m heats of the morning, and the winner of the jump-out was Rock Melody 5:0-2-2 $13,960 {All Too Hard}, 2nd was Intisar 3:1-0-1 $24,375 {Last Typhoon}, while 5th was Love Is Easy 5:0-0-2 $11,710.
Leopardi - Pakenham jump-out, November 15 2022. Red jacket, 4th.
All the form around Leopardi from the jump-outs stacks up, these form references are a key piece of the puzzle when sourcing tried horses and back-up our processes to identify tried horses that can be better placed in an easier jurisdiction.
We've had great success buying horses out of metropolitan trials or jump-outs and moving them to a country trainer, Well In Sight 7:4-0-0 $72,515 {Shalaa (IRE)}, and Turtleneck 2:1-1-0 $16,800 {Winning Rupert}, are two recent successful purchases bought using the same principals.
Leopardi is sound, with no vices.
