We're excited to offer our latest tried horse purchase, unraced 5yo gelding Red Diamond {Vancouver}, from 3 x city winning mare Modonna {More Than Ready (USA)}.

Modonna has had five foals to race, four winners including Valorous {So You Think} 7 x winner, $378,000, Wandonna {Wandjina} 3 x winner, and more recently, I Am Yours {I Am Invincible}, an impressive 3yo winner at Sandown in March earlier this year.

Red Diamond was originally purchased by Domeland, a large breeding and racing operation at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale in 2019 for $100,000. He was given two trials in June of 2020, in which he performed more than acceptably, however, the feedback was he was a slow maturing horse who would benefit from a lengthy spell.

He was spelled soon after those trials which happened to be around the same time covid was rampant, and therefore the horse has remained spelling until now when his owners, Domeland eventually got around to doing a dispersal sale of their stock on Inglis Digital.

The horse is completely sound, with no vices.

The thing that sparked our interest in Red Diamond was the horses that he trialed against back in June 2020. In his first trial, Red Diamond finished just behind Easy Campese {Sidestep} a 5 x winner, $232,000, and alongside Always Sure {Not A Single Doubt} 4 x winner, $157,000.

In his second barrier trial, Red Diamond was beaten just 5 lengths by Rule Of Law {Snitzel}, 7 x winner, $360,000 which last raced in the Group-1 TJ Smith Stakes behind Nature Stripe in the autumn. Red Diamond finished alongside Star Sparks {Medaglia D’oro (USA)}, 5 x winner from just 8 starts, $100,000 in prizemoney, and Deniliquin {Adelaide (IRE)}, 3 x winner and a very progressive stayer that has found form this preparation.

With the benefit of hindsight 2 years on, these are terrific form references, a key piece of the puzzle when sourcing tried horses, and when you consider Red Diamond will be racing in the country, he’s a great buy.

Patriot Bloodstock has had great success purchasing horses out of Sydney trials, sending them to the country getting a quick return on investment for our clients, and we believe Red Diamond fits that exact same profile.

To be trained by Mitch Beer at Albury. Mitch is ranked amongst the top country trainers in NSW and is excited to have the horse enter his stables. Patriot Bloodstock has built a formidable partnership with Mitch Beer in the southern region.

The horse will head straight to Mitch at Albury and begin his training. Because Red Diamond has had such a long spell it will likely be a steady build-up getting him back to race condition, but we’d expect to have him at the races in about 3-4 months’ time. As a horse that will race up to a mile and perhaps beyond it will really opens up his opportunities in the country. 

Shares start at $650.00 for 5%. Costs include purchase price, PDS, transport, vet certificate, registration, transfers, and all associated costs until the end of November. 

Ongoing costs are fixed at $200 + GST each month for 5%, no extras except for unexpected vet call outs, surgeries, feature race nominations, or anything out of the ordinary etc.
